.MX domain name pricing is difficult to calculate from both the seller and buyer perspective. Let's forget for a moment about the choice between .MX vs .COM.MX which I wrote about recently. The issue with the .MX domain name extension is the lack of comparable sales data.
Others in the industry have speculated that .MX domain name sales are happening but are not being reported. If a Mexican company buys or sells a .MX domain name, they probably don't care if the sale is recorded on NameBio.com for example. Furthermore, if the sale did not occur on a large auction site like Sedo.com or GoDaddy Auctions, the sale will not be added into a popular domain name appraisal tool such as Estibot.com.
The image I created above titled Spanish One Word .MX Domain Name Sales takes a look at a sample of recent .MX domain name sales. I use the terms sample and recent because I wish to highlight the fact that these are not all of the sales recorded on NameBio. These are the .MX domain name sales I could use to gauge the current pricing of .MX domain names I have listed for sale on my website.
Looking at the table of short, one word, mostly Spanish domain names, we can see a wide range in sale price from $3,036 for encuentros.mx to $12,240 for cupon.mx. In short, we can see that Spanish domain names using the .MX extension are fetching around $5,000 for a good name. The venue for all of the domain name sales listed in the image above is Sedo.
There are currently some great buys out there for .MX domain names in the $2,000 to $5,000 price range.
That prompts us to visit Sedo and search for short .MX domain names with a descending sort by price. Scrolling through what appears to be overpriced listings, you will eventually get to a nice group of one word domain names in the range of $2,000 to $5,000 USD. I'm not suggesting that every .MX domain name should be priced in this range. I am suggesting that there are currently some great buys out there for .MX domain names in the $2,000 to $5,000 price range.
The higher priced .MX inventory on Sedo should serve as a wake up call to companies, domainers, and web developers who have sat on the sideline for too long.
The .MX domain name extension is the ccTLD or Country Code Top Level Domain representing the country of Mexico. Registry.mx recently announced reaching their first million registered domain names. The one million mark was officially passed on July 10, 2018. Registry.mx is a division of NIC Mexico and is responsible for the administration of the .MX domain name registry.
